Since I was called here in August, 2012, it has seemed that we are all in the same car, on a joyful journey, but just beginning to feel comfortable with God’s new direction for our church. Many members have taken turns “driving” our church. People have pitched in like never before, because the church needs everyone.
Activities. Our church has been a bustle of activity. We’ve had Sunday breakfast meetings to plan our future, and session meetings to determine our program needs. We’ve had worship services to inspire the community through the Annual Advent Sing, and a Peace and Healing service in response to gun violence throughout our nation, from Newtown, Conn. to our community.
Missions. Since August the Mission committee has been the driving force of our journey. Each month innovative activities have reintroduced First Presbyterian church to Perryville and PerryCounty. In November, the church commissioned Amanda Craven to the Great Commission Ministry serving the college students at University of Pittsburg.
Goals. As we continue our Journey in Jesus in 2013 we focus on three goals—to become a discipleship church, a missional church and a church for the next generation.
Join us. In other words, we grow our church up, we send our church out, and we pass our church on. If you are looking for a church home, we invite you to join us on our journey.
